True. The trick there is to not get my “self” overly involved, so that the success remains truly outside my “self”. My self has a way of getting stronger and stronger, particularly when it’s the only one working on a particular project, as is usually the case in my jobs. I might even venture to say that “burnout” is the moment where my self gets so strong that everything is distorted by its looming presence, and nothing is enjoyable.
I think that’s part of why I gravitate to classroom teaching so much, especially with kids. There’s no time for my self to get involved, because there’s just non-stop needs from all the little beings around me. :)
