When I read about Stoicism philosophy, I often notice its similarities to the Buddhist philosophy — like the idea that your satisfaction with life shouldn’t depend on external factors and accumulation, but instead on your inner state.

A tenet of Buddhist philosophy is that you should always test out its ideas for yourself —to see if it is true that you are more content when you fully apply its philosophies to your life.

So I have been applying the Buddhist approach to my life, and for me, the results are highly beneficial. I am much less reactive to external factors, I can let go of attachments and repulsions more easily. I may be slightly less “productive” when compared to my previous self, but I experience far less bouts of anxiety — I consider that a better way to be.

In this piece, you talk of the failure of others to apply Stoic principles to their lives. I am very curious of your own experience of applying Stoic principles to *your* life. Did it fail you? In what way?
